I mean, come on. Were we REALLY surprised about this one?
Early registration for Annual Passholders and DVC members opened today for the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend in Disneyland. The event, which is scheduled to take place Jan 15-18, 2015, will include kids races, a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and for those who are particularly feeling the Force, the Rebel Challenge where runners will participate in the 10K and half marathon for a special medal.
Like all other runDisney enthusiasts (and as someone who has been chomping at the bit for this long-rumored SW race to become a reality), I was in front of my computer at 8:59am, annual pass and credit card in hand, ready to fork over another couple hundred bucks to the Mouse to run this epic race....
....only to find that the AP early registration slots for the Rebel Challenge had filled up in an unprecedented, record-breaking 9 MINUTES.
Early reg for all other weekend events quickly followed and filled up within a matter of hours (only the half marathon still has AP spots available).
So now I (impatiently) wait until next week when general registration opens to the public at 9am PST/12pm EST on June 10th. Who else is planning on signing up?
