Vegan Friendly and Healthier Food Options at Disneyland

Hey Folks!!

I went to Disneyland last Sunday with a dear friend of mine. We work together as Health Coaches with a company called Arbonne. We were there celebrating our promotions, and relieving some stress and we took this chance to show our clients through her video blog that you can indeed go to Disneyland and enjoy a healthy lifestyle, and I thought I’d share some of it with you guys too!!

Disneyland has made great strides in the last few years to bring more healthy choices to Disneyland, and if you’re up on what they provide and what you can ask for, figuring out where you can eat, really isn’t that hard. They have a LOT of Vegetarian options out there now, and even some vegan, or could easily be vegan with a few modifications. My friend Jodi is vegan, and has been for years so we chose to go to the most Vegan-Friendly places. I am not vegan, but I don’t eat dairy, so a lot of my choices were very similar to hers.

In each “Land” they have a cart with fruits, veggies, and water bottles. I was able to grab a SmartWater (I like the sipper top and flip cap- Dasani is perfectly fine and cheaper) a veggie cup and a berry cup for about $12. The veggie cup comes with Lite Ranch Dressing so I just tossed that, but if you eat dairy it’s there for a little dippin’. There is also hummus and pretzel cups (not gluten free) and fresh fruits including apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, and pineapple spears!
We both brought in homemade Arbonne protein bars; Jodi brought a shaker cup full of Arbonne’s Protein Powder and just asked for some water (if you go into a restaurant they’ll give you a cup of water for free).

If you have a sweet tooth, avoid the ice cream carts but head over to Adventureland and grab a Dole Whip! They have been reformulated and are now VEGAN!! If you have a dairy allergy though, please specify this to the Cast Member, because they do serve Vanilla Soft Serve, which has milk, but they can change out the nozzles to make sure you’re ok.

One of my favorite places to eat is at Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland. It seems to be my go-to, because their food is always really good and they have the most options for both Vegans and Meat eaters alike. We got the Tostada Salad with no cheese and no sour cream to keep it vegan. It comes with chicken, steak, or veggies. They’ll even give you both chicken and veggies at no extra charge if you’re a little hungrier. All of Rancho’s dishes include Mexican rice and refried beans which are vegan and contain no lard or animal stock, but if you want you can substitute them for sautéed vegetables. Their Guajillo Sauce and Red Sauce are both NOT vegan, so if this concerns you, you can ask for it without. Some of the other healthier options they have are the Soft Tacos Monterrey- "Fajita Style," so you get vegetables (just ask for no cheese if you’re vegan) and the Burrito Sonora- "Fajita Style" (ask for no cheese and no Guajillo Sauce). Every restaurant has at least one meal vegetarian, and for the most part this is your healthiest choice.

I do have a few favorite non-vegetarian favorites, like the Grilled Chicken Burger and Veggie Burger (it contains egg whites) at the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country, which are both delicious (if you’re vegan try the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich with no cheese… It’s so good!).

Watch out for a couple sneaky ones out there though, the Churros and the Corn on the Cobb are NOT vegan and I actually just found out the neither is the Veggie Tater Bake at Flo’s V8 Café in California Adventure the dish is vegetarian, but not vegan, the potatoes and the soy crumbles have dairy in it. Be careful with any veggies if you’re a strict vegan; ask if they are cooked with butter, sometimes they are and sometimes its oil.

Your best bet at any place is to ask the Chefs if you have any questions or dietary restraints. Next time I go I’ll remember to take my notebook with me so I can let you all know of some other great healthier choices you can grab. If you have dietary questions, are curious about what Arbonne is and  if it can help you make some healthier choices, you can contact me through my site (www.desireelake.myarbonne.com) and I can help you out.

Thanks for letting me chat with ya!
